Level 1 British Sign Language (BSL) – Online Course
Our Level 1 British Sign Language (BSL) online course is designed to introduce learners to the fundamentals of BSL in a flexible and accessible format. This course is ideal for beginners with little or no prior knowledge of sign language who wish to develop practical communication skills and increase their awareness of Deaf culture.
Throughout the course, learners will develop the ability to communicate using basic signs and simple conversations in everyday situations. Topics include greetings, family, numbers, time, directions, work, hobbies, and common social interactions. Learners will also gain an understanding of facial expressions, body language, and the grammatical structure unique to BSL.
Delivered fully online, the course combines tutor-led instruction, interactive practice activities, video demonstrations, and independent study tasks. Learners can progress at a structured pace while receiving support and feedback from a qualified tutor.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to confidently participate in basic signed conversations and demonstrate an understanding of essential BSL vocabulary and communication techniques.
